Ida M. Graves-Burris

October 10, 1931 - April 2, 2017

Ida was born to the parentage of the late Henry Rusk and Samantha Louise McKinney (Washington), in Marshall, Texas.  She completed her formative years of education in Marshall, Texas, where she began and nurtured many lasting friendships.  Ida knew  the Lord early and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost.  Her early acceptance of Christ served as the foundation for her gifts: willingness to serve and a passion for people.

Ida married the first love of her life , Clifton Monroe Graves.  To this beautiful union, God bestowed them with three loving children: Helen, Michael and Clifton. Ida's family was dedicated members of Puget Street Christian Church of Dallas, Texas.  In the passing of Monroe Graves,  Ida later married the second love of her life the late Pastor Albert Burris.    Ida worked for Texas Instruments, Wonder Bread Bakery and several years as a private housekeeper.  She was a resident of the North Park community for over 60 years.

For many years, Ida served faithfully as the First Lady of Cedar Grove Chistian Church in Rockwall, Texas;   as well as Canada Drive Christian Church of Dallas, Texas.  In the continuance of her servitude years after the passing of the late Pastor Albert Burris,  Ida became a faithful member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas, where she served as a member on the Usher Ministy and beloved Goldie.

On April 2, 2017,  again, God in his infinite wisdom looked down upon this earth and saw that Ida was growing tired and weary.  Therefore, surrounded by family and friends our Heavenly Father held her in the cradle of His arms and gently rocked her from labor to reward.

Ida is now resting in the arms of the Lord, proceded by two brohters and a sister.  No more  sickness and no more pain.  She is loved and remembed as: "Mama" to Helen Johnson, Michael Graves (Debra) and Clifton Graves: "Granny" to five grandchildren: Kevin Johnson (Sandra) and Erica Butler (Alvin); and  "GiGi" to ten great-grandchildren.  Cherished memories also held by four sisters, one brother Dr. Warren Smith Jr. (Geraldine),   a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Church families and friends.
