Music Ministry Director

Duties & Responsibilities

The Music Ministry Director leads the choir and musicians in ushering the congregation into worship through the Spirit of God in Christ Jesus. Through singing and the playing of instruments—including keyboard, drums, guitar, and other musical instruments—the Music Ministry helps open the hearts of the congregation to joyfully praise and worship God with heart, mind, and soul.

The Music Ministry Director provides both spiritual and musical leadership, helping ensure that music remains an important and meaningful part of the worship experience at Cedar Grove Christian Church.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to the choir, musicians, and other members of the Music Ministry.

  • Lead and coordinate music for Sunday worship services, special services, and church programs.

  • Work cooperatively with the Senior Pastor, Worship Chair, and other church leadership in planning the musical portion of worship.

  • Select and prepare music that supports the message, purpose, and spiritual atmosphere of worship.

  • Schedule and conduct choir rehearsals and music practices.

  • Ensure choir members and musicians receive timely information regarding rehearsals, musical selections, service times, and special programs.

  • Coordinate musicians who play keyboard, drums, guitar, and other instruments.

  • Prepare the choir and musicians both spiritually and musically for worship.

  • Encourage choir members and musicians to serve with faithfulness, humility, preparation, and a spirit of worship.

  • Coordinate solos, ensembles, praise teams, special selections, and guest musicians when appropriate.

  • Encourage participation from members who have musical gifts and a desire to serve God through music.

  • Identify, encourage, and help develop new singers and musicians, including youth and younger members of the congregation.

  • Promote unity, cooperation, respect, dependability, and Christian fellowship within the Music Ministry.

  • Coordinate music for funerals, weddings, anniversaries, revivals, and other special services when requested.

  • Help ensure musical instruments, microphones, sound equipment, and other ministry resources are properly used and cared for.

  • Communicate equipment, repair, or maintenance needs to the appropriate church leadership.

  • Maintain communication with choir officers, musicians, ministry participants, and church leadership.

  • Encourage the understanding that the Music Ministry is not simply about performance, but about worship, ministry, and glorifying God.

  • Perform other responsibilities necessary to support the worship and ministry of Cedar Grove Christian Church.

Purpose

The purpose of the Music Ministry Director is to provide spiritual and musical leadership that helps create an atmosphere of praise, worship, reflection, and celebration.

Through music, the Director helps prepare hearts to receive the Word of God, encourages participation in worship, develops the musical gifts of the congregation, and leads the church in giving glory and honor to God.
