Duties & Responsibilities

Pastor Samuel Nwagboso serves as Associate Pastor of Cedar Grove Christian Church. He is a passionate and detail-oriented preacher and teacher of the Word of God, known for his engaging delivery and practical application of biblical principles to everyday life.

A lifelong learner, Pastor Sam holds two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree in Health Administration. He brings more than 15 years of banking experience in both Nigeria and the United States. His professional background also includes experience as a public speaker, educator, IT professional, and healthcare professional.

Through the grace of God upon his life, Pastor Sam is committed to making disciples, strengthening believers, and developing the next generation of Kingdom leaders through the Word of God. His ministry reflects a deep passion for spiritual growth, leadership development, Christian education, and helping others live out their faith with purpose.

Associate Pastor — Duties & Responsibilities

As Associate Pastor, Pastor Sam works under and alongside the Senior Pastor to support the spiritual leadership, ministry, growth, and overall welfare of Cedar Grove Christian Church.

His responsibilities include:

  • Support the Senior Pastor in carrying out the spiritual vision and mission of the church.

  • Preach and teach the Word of God as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

  • Assist in providing spiritual leadership, biblical instruction, and pastoral care to the congregation.

  • Lead worship services and fulfill pastoral responsibilities when requested or in the Senior Pastor’s absence, as authorized.

  • Assist with Bible study, Sunday School, Christian education, and other opportunities for spiritual development.

  • Help develop disciples by encouraging prayer, biblical study, Christian service, and spiritual maturity.

  • Provide prayer, encouragement, spiritual guidance, and pastoral support to members and families.

  • Visit and minister to the sick, shut-in, hospitalized, grieving, and those experiencing difficult circumstances.

  • Assist with baptisms, Communion, funerals, weddings, dedications, and other sacred services as assigned.

  • Encourage evangelism, outreach, missions, and community involvement.

  • Help welcome and spiritually connect new members, visitors, and individuals seeking a church home.

  • Work cooperatively with Elders, Deacons, officers, ministry leaders, teachers, and other members of church leadership.

  • Help identify, mentor, and develop emerging leaders within the congregation.

  • Encourage the involvement and spiritual development of youth and younger generations.

  • Assist ministry leaders with biblical guidance and leadership development when requested.

  • Promote unity, accountability, Christian fellowship, and cooperation throughout the congregation.

  • Support church programs, special services, leadership meetings, and ministry initiatives.

  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise wisdom and discretion when providing pastoral care.

  • Represent Cedar Grove Christian Church with integrity, humility, compassion, professionalism, and Christian character.

  • Perform other pastoral and ministry responsibilities assigned by the Senior Pastor in support of the mission of Cedar Grove Christian Church.

Ministry Purpose

The Associate Pastor serves as an extension of the Senior Pastor’s ministry and helps strengthen the spiritual life of the congregation through preaching, teaching, discipleship, pastoral care, leadership development, evangelism, and service.

Pastor Sam’s diverse ministry, educational, and professional experience provides an additional foundation for his commitment to developing people spiritually and helping prepare the next generation of Christian leaders to serve God, the church, and the community.
