Our Beliefs

Who We Are as Disciples of Christ

Cedar Grove Christian Church is part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a Christian tradition centered on Jesus Christ, Scripture, baptism, communion, service, and unity within the body of Christ.

As Disciples of Christ, we believe faith is not only something we profess—it is something we live. We are called to follow Jesus, serve others, welcome people into Christian fellowship, and share the love of God through both our words and our actions.

We confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and Lord and Savior of the world. Through His grace, we accept the responsibility to witness, serve, love, and care for people in our church, our community, and beyond.

We believe in God, the Creator of heaven and earth, and in the covenant of love that connects us to God and to one another.

Through baptism into Christ, we enter into new life and become part of the greater family of God.

Through the Holy Spirit, we are strengthened and united in discipleship, prayer, spiritual growth, and obedience to Christ.

At the Lord’s Table, we gather in thanksgiving to remember the saving work and presence of Jesus Christ. Communion is central to our worship and reminds us that we are one body in Christ.

We believe Scripture guides our faith, and that every believer is called to use the gifts God has given them in ministry and service.

As part of the universal Church, we seek unity with other Christians while remaining committed to following Christ faithfully.

Our Confession

As members of the Christian Church, we confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and proclaim Him Lord and Savior of the world.

In Christ’s name and by His grace, we accept our mission of witness and service to all people.

We rejoice in God, maker of heaven and earth, and in the covenant of love which binds us to God and to one another.

Through baptism into Christ, we enter into newness of life and are made one with the whole people of God.

In the communion of the Holy Spirit, we are joined together in discipleship and in obedience to Christ.

At the table of the Lord, we celebrate with thanksgiving the saving acts and presence of Christ.

Within the universal church, we receive the gift of ministry and the light of Scripture.

In the bonds of Christian faith, we yield ourselves to God that we may serve the One whose kingdom has no end.

Blessing, glory, and honor be to God forever. Amen.
