Financier & Deacon

Duties & Responsibilities

The Financier & Deacon serves Cedar Grove Christian Church through financial stewardship, Christian service, and support of the congregation. In these roles, he helps ensure the church’s financial affairs are handled responsibly while faithfully carrying out the responsibilities of the Deacons Ministry.

His service requires integrity, accountability, confidentiality, sound judgment, cooperation, and a commitment to the spiritual and practical welfare of the church.

Financier — Duties & Responsibilities

As Financier, he oversees the financial business and affairs of Cedar Grove Christian Church and serves as a member of the Stewardship Committee.

His responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the financial affairs of Cedar Grove Christian Church in accordance with established church policies and procedures.

  • Serve as an active member of the Stewardship Committee.

  • Help maintain accountability for church income, expenses, accounts, and other financial activity.

  • Compile and present regular financial reports at each General Board meeting.

  • Prepare and provide quarterly financial reports to the congregation.

  • Work with the Church Treasurer and other authorized financial officers to help ensure financial records are complete and accurate.

  • Assist with the development and monitoring of the church budget.

  • Review financial activity and help identify significant budget concerns, discrepancies, or financial needs.

  • Help ensure expenditures and reimbursements are properly authorized and documented.

  • Assist church leadership in understanding the financial condition and financial needs of the church.

  • Support responsible stewardship of offerings, donations, and other resources entrusted to Cedar Grove.

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive financial information.

  • Maintain appropriate financial documentation for accountability and review.

  • Work cooperatively with the Senior Pastor, Treasurer, Assistant Financier, Stewardship Committee, Board leadership, and other authorized church officers.

  • Perform other financial responsibilities established by the church’s bylaws, policies, or General Board.

Deacon — Duties & Responsibilities

As a Deacon, he works cooperatively with the Pastor, Elders, fellow Deacons, and other church leadership to promote the growth, welfare, and ministry of Cedar Grove Christian Church.

His responsibilities include:

  • Cooperate with the Elders and church leadership in promoting the spiritual growth and welfare of the church.

  • Assist in greeting and welcoming members, visitors, and worshippers.

  • Help maintain order and a welcoming Christian atmosphere during worship services.

  • Prepare and distribute the Lord’s Supper (Communion).

  • Assist with offerings and other worship responsibilities as assigned.

  • Assist candidates in preparing for baptism.

  • Minister to members and families during sickness, hospitalization, bereavement, hardship, and other times of need.

  • Support stewardship efforts, outreach initiatives, and church programs.

  • Participate in funerals, baptisms, special services, and other church activities when needed.

  • Provide practical assistance to members of the congregation when appropriate.

  • Work cooperatively with fellow Deacons in fulfilling the responsibilities of the Deacons Ministry.

  • Support the Senior Pastor, Elders, and church leadership in carrying out the mission and ministry of Cedar Grove.

  • Demonstrate Christian character, dependability, compassion, confidentiality, and a servant’s heart.

  • Perform other duties assigned in accordance with the established practices of Cedar Grove Christian Church.

Purpose

The Financier & Deacon serves an important role in both the financial and ministry life of Cedar Grove Christian Church.

Through responsible financial stewardship, he helps promote transparency, accountability, and proper management of the resources entrusted to the church. Through his service as a Deacon, he helps care for the congregation, supports worship, assists church leadership, and responds to the spiritual and practical needs of members.

Together, these responsibilities help support the spiritual welfare, financial integrity, growth, and continued mission of Cedar Grove Christian Church.
