Youth Ministry Director

Duties & Responsibilities

The Youth Ministry Director provides leadership, guidance, spiritual instruction, and encouragement to the youth of Cedar Grove Christian Church. The Director oversees youth activities and works to create opportunities for young people to develop their faith, discover their God-given gifts and talents, build positive relationships, and actively participate in the life and mission of the church.

The Youth Ministry Director works cooperatively with the Senior Pastor, parents and guardians, ministry leaders, teachers, and volunteers to help provide a safe, welcoming, supportive, and Christ-centered environment for children and youth.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate youth activities, including Junior Ushers, Praise Dancers, Youth Choir, and other youth programs.

  • Provide biblical instruction, spiritual guidance, and Christian education to help young people grow in their relationship with God.

  • Work collaboratively with the Ushers Ministry, Music Ministry, Sunday School, Worship Ministry, and other ministries that serve and support the youth.

  • Encourage youth participation in Sunday worship, church programs, special services, fellowship activities, and community outreach.

  • Develop and organize youth programs that promote Christian fellowship, leadership, personal development, service, and spiritual growth.

  • Plan age-appropriate activities that allow youth to learn, worship, fellowship, serve, and enjoy being part of the church family.

  • Mentor and encourage young people to identify and use their gifts and talents in service to God and the church.

  • Help identify and develop future Christian leaders.

  • Encourage older youth to serve as positive examples and mentors to younger children.

  • Provide opportunities for youth to participate in prayer, Scripture reading, music, ushering, dance, outreach, and other areas of ministry.

  • Encourage youth involvement in community service and mission projects.

  • Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding youth programs, activities, schedules, and expectations.

  • Work with parents, guardians, volunteers, and church leadership when addressing the needs or concerns of young people.

  • Recruit and coordinate appropriate adult volunteers to assist with youth activities when needed.

  • Help ensure youth activities follow established church safety practices and appropriate supervision requirements.

  • Promote an environment where every young person is treated with dignity, respect, patience, compassion, and Christian love.

  • Encourage positive behavior, accountability, cooperation, and respect among youth participants.

  • Help ensure young people feel welcomed, heard, valued, and connected to the church.

  • Assist with planning Youth Day, Vacation Bible School, youth fellowships, educational activities, outings, community projects, and other special programs when applicable.

  • Maintain appropriate information regarding youth activities, schedules, participation, and ministry plans as needed.

  • Communicate ministry needs, concerns, and accomplishments to the Senior Pastor and appropriate church leadership.

  • Work cooperatively with the congregation to strengthen relationships between the youth and older generations of the church.

  • Encourage continued participation as young people transition into adult ministries and leadership opportunities.

  • Perform other duties assigned by the Senior Pastor and church leadership in support of the Youth Ministry.

Purpose

The purpose of the Youth Ministry Director is to help build a strong spiritual foundation in the lives of Cedar Grove's young people and prepare them to become the next generation of disciples, servants, and Christian leaders.

Through biblical teaching, mentorship, worship, fellowship, leadership development, community service, and Christian example, the Youth Ministry Director helps young people understand that they are not simply the future of the church—they are an important part of the church today.
